Have Foot Will Travel

Had surgery on my foot yesterday. Still smarts a bit, but I think it's going to turn out better in the end. Hospital staff said that yes, the doctor did find some arthritis in this little appendage of mine. Granted the surgery won't help the arthritis, but it will make putting my shoes on more comfortable.

And boy, let me tell ya; any bit of "more comfortable" is welcome.

So Amen to that.

Other good news! I got a "ball park" closing date on my Habitat house. Some time the end of this month or the very beginning of next! I'm feeling good and calm about it. Been a long time coming.

It's good to hear from you! I'm glad things are going well and you'll be a bit more comfortable. :) My mom used to have a lot of foot pain, I know it was really hard for her to get around and do much before she got it somewhat fixed.

Thanks Sanil - I'm hoping it will improve at least the discomfort of putting shoes on. Also glad your mom was able to get some relief too. It really stinks when your body don't work all that well; but I am grateful that it works as well as it does.

Here is the simple record of a creative journey. A creative journey that began with the birth of a baby girl back in the early 1970's. As this girl grew, she endured many hardships; an alcoholic mother, sexual abuse and much death in the family; only to go to school and have bullies add to her pain.

Despite all this, she still managed to learn and by the time she'd finished college she'd mastered the academic world quite well. She's always loved history and science, reading, writing, drawing, painting, music; of which this creative odyssey gave her a place of solace. In the depth of serious depression; her own sad stories and drawings of events in World War Two gave voice to the trepidation in her own soul. Stories of Nazis, the holocaust and the horrors endured by the Soviet people were constant reminders that she wasn't alone in the suffering of this world.

Her spiritual awakening came as a teenager, in which "Higher Power" had directed her to the rooms of Al-Anon and Al-Ateen. There she "came, came to, came to believe" and little did she know that it would only be a few short months before her outlook on life would radically change! She'd finally know who this God was who was carrying her along. Who this God was who'd provide rides to meetings, help her find a job and get through school. It was the same God who'd led one man and his family out of Ur of the Caldees 4000 years prior, a nation out of slavery in Egypt, who'd raised up and cast down kingdoms and had finally came into this world Himself to redeem it from it's own destruction. That same God who'd wrought many mighty miracles back in antiquity was still (and is still) at work in America and across the globe.

As this teenager grew into a young woman; she's proudly serve her country in the Navy, just as her dad had 30 years earlier. He was in the Cuban Missile Crisis, while she did clean up after Desert Storm. Her dad has since thus died. (He passed away in 2006.) She still hopes that one day, when she herself goes to meet her Creator; there she will see her dad, singing with the choirs of angels.

On Easter Sunday of 2010; this woman, at the dawn of the second half of her earthly life - was in a catastrophic motor vehicle collision. She essentially lost the sight in one eye and now employs the assistance of crutches and a wheelchair to get around. Even so, she’s reminded that so much more happened on Easter Sunday than a car accident; for a man named Jesus rose from the dead!

Major life altering incidents often never come alone. Shortly after this crash; her husband of 11 years decided he didn’t want to be married any longer. After years of struggling through this failing relationship and having already done all that God had ever asked of her; she was ready to let him go.

"I hope, life treats you kind; And I hope, you have all you’ve dreamed of: And I wish you joy, and happiness, but above all this I wish you love!"

So again she’s set out upon another odyssey; a labor to discover what the next half of life has in store. The Scripture says there’s a reason for everything that happens; even when we don’t know what that reason is.

Today this woman spends her days laboring in her various hobbies and the things of life that "gotta get done". She has one son who himself struggles with Autism, seizures and other various asundery developmental issues.

Through this dear God of hers, I've come to know her much better than I'd ever expected; for she is I - the one traveling this Artizen's Odyssey.

"For I know the thought that I think toward you, saith the Lord. Thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then ye shall call upon Me, and ye shall go and pray unto Me and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek Me and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart." Jer 29:10-13
